Me Made May - Week 4

This week I had four me-made outfits to wear to make up for only wearing two last week!

Monday was a gloriously warm and sunny day so I wore this floral cropped blouse and cream 70s midi skirt. The blouse was made from my own pattern and is perfect for using up smaller pieces of fabric.

Isle of Wight Adventures

Last week I went on a mini break to the Isle of Wight, I used to holiday there as a child and have many happy memories of the place. The island is actually one of my favourite places to be and I really should try and go there more often.

Me Made May - Week 3

Hello lovelies! It seems another week has gone by which means that it's time for another round up of my me-made outfits.

Last week I went on a little trip to the Isle of Wight. I used to visit the island regularly as a child and haven't been back for about 10 years so it was nice to go and visit all the old haunts.  I stayed in The Bungalow (part of Vintage Vacations), so for a few days I got to pretend that I was living in the 1960s - it even had an English Rose kitchen! I didn't actually wear any me-made outfits during the trip and it wasn't until Saturday that I actually wore something me-made so there are only two outfits this week.

Me Made May - Week 2

Another week has gone by which means that it's time for a round up of my me-made outfits.

I was actually a bit under the weather this week and didn't get round to wearing any me-made outfits until Thursday. I was still taking it easy so just popped out for a bit to get my nails done (I have a slight obsession with gel polish). For this I wore my curtain shift dress which I made nearly two years ago to wear to a wedding.

Space Age

The 1960s was a decade of space exploration and looking to the future, the race to space and the launch of Telstar (an American communication satellite from which the first live transatlantic television feed was relayed) all played their part in influencing the fashion designers of the time. In 1964 Pierre Cardin launched his Space Age collection and AndrĂ© Courrèges presented his Moon Girl collection to great acclaim.

Me Made May - Week 1

Can you believe it's May already? This year, for the first time, I'm participating in Me Made May. My pledge is to wear at least one handmade item, three times a week for the duration of May and I plan to document my progress in weekly update posts. As I already wear my handmade items regularly, this challenge is mainly to get better at remembering to take outfit photos.

So, without further ado, here is a roundup of my me-made outfits for week 1.

Pinterest's Festival Embellishment Workshop

Last week I received an email from Pinterest UK asking me if I'd like to attend a goldwork embroidery workshop at Hand & Lock in association with Mastered. I didn't have to think twice about accepting, Hand & Lock is the most prestigious embroidery design brand in the world and has been around for nearly 250 years (amazing!), it counts the British Royal Family amongst its many clients.

Upon arrival we were able to explore the lovely workrooms and admire all the amazing embroidery that was on display. I have a new found respect for hand embroidered items and now know why they cost so much - so many hours go into the making of a piece and the embroiderers are insanely talented.
