Style Muse: Chantal Goya

Chantal Goya is a French singer and actress. She started her career as a Yé Yé girl with her first single, C'est bien Bernard, being released in 1964. She went on to become a French New Wave actress, appearing in Jean-Luc Godard's Masculin, féminin and in Jean-Daniel Pollet's L'amour c'est gai, l'amour c'est triste (Love is joy, love is sad).

  1. Hi, Sarah! Yet another French Yé Yé girl? Through your posts I am coming to realize how many were around in the 60s. Seems the girls were all packaged in the same manner - portrayed as sweet and innocent - but their songs and videos were designed to titillate. The rather annoying technique used in this Chantal Goya video, two minutes of nonstop zooms in and out, was undoubtedly considered a cutting edge artistic effect at the time.

That black & white picture of Chantal holding an umbrella whilst walking on a rain soaked city sidewalk is perfection, don't you think?

I hope you're having a fab week, dear friend Sarah!

  3. Aww such a sweet girl! I'm kind of glad she managed to get out of the Yeye music and into something with slightly more substance
